Sneaky Copywriting Show-Offs! (And Their Dirty Little Tricks)

Wowzers, I’m seriously impressed by the headlines that have been popping-up on Better Networker lately.

In fact, I have a sneaky suspicion that some Better Networkers are reading copywriting books. Good job! But you’re making me look bad – so quit it!

Stop FLEXING those copywriting muscles…

You see, it’s hard enough whipping out 15-20 headlines a day for articles, blogposts, and subheads without having stiff competition from you.

Golly, last year it was like the bass were leaping into my fishing boat. I wrote an article on Better Networker and thousands of people would rush to read it in 2-3 hours. Now, I’m lucky if I get a couple hundred views – so STOP it!

You Sneaky Copywriting Show-Offs!

But seriously, I’m happy for everybody studying copywriting.

Copywriting really is the most important skill in online marketing these days. And if you can learn to drive a little traffic too – then you’re all set.

Because when it all boils down, your ability to write copy that grabs eyeballs, sells, and persuades will do more for your bottom-line than anything else you will ever learn to do.

Not to mention the fact that it’s also a very marketable skill. It’s really hard to find skilled copywriters with sales experience.

So, no matter what happens in your life. No matter what…

You will always have a skill that people are
willing to exchange money for

But it’s so much more than that….

Copywriting truly is THE million dollar skill.

Many Internet Marketers have attributed their success to copywriting and their ability to craft a “killer” sales pitch – it’s a fact.

You really are on the right track

Now, I know that some readers bought Yanik Silver’s Instant Sales Letters a while back when I first reviewed it. You might also be interested in that if you missed out…

I won’t say that it’s “all” you need to know about copywriting.

But it’s definitely an easy way to start. And the “copy and paste” resources he shares are almost always on my desktop.

You don’t think I “whip” all this off the top of my head -do you?

Anyway, I just thought I would congratulate you

You know, I keep my eyeballs on everything over at Better Networker. And I read an insane amount of blogs everyday.

Sometimes I even _find a second or two to leave a comment. :-)

But, I’m impressed by how far the “Better Bunch” has come.

Almost brings tears to my big blue eyes.

To your success,

-Jason The “Better Networker”

:) Glad to hear that some people are bringing happy tears to your blue eyes (lol). I am still in the trenches learning copywriting and find it to be one of the best investments of time for my business. I’m learning lots from the community and am putting things into practice.

Thanks again Jason,
Kerie

And thank you too Kerie,

The only problem with copywriting is that once you go down the rabbit hole it’s hard to get back up. :-)

Hey Jason,

I have to say that it does get fun when I’m creating titles for my post. I collected tons of comic books and still have them today. What I use to love was going to the back of them and reading the headlines for those penny toys that were sold for $5-$10.

What caught my attention was the headlines. Thanks for sharing over and over with us.

Have a great weekend…
Josh

Man, it’s hard to compete when you’re whipping out classic ones
left and right. hah.

I think it would be great if there was a list of your top five fav copy writing books that make you as spectacular as you are … so that we (who needs some a readin”) would have a reference point to start..

Good idea though.

Hi Jason,

I love Yanik’s stuff. I have the sales letter course, the Ultimate Copywriting Workshop and some others but I still have headaches over headlines. It seems to be a mental block for me. I see good headlines and i say, “Why didn’t I think of that.”

I am learning a lot from you. Thanks.

You’re not the only one Melodie.

It’s perfectly normal because headlines are the hardest thing to write.

I’ll often write a half dozen to pick one. At a minimum…

And when I don’t I regret it dearly. :-(

Wow… I wouldve never thought.. :)

..seriously though, with the influx of information hitting our prospects everyday, grabbing their atention with a juicy headline is crucial to our success..

Bring on the competition!! :-)

Another great post, Jason.

You are on a roll!

Copywriting is an amazing skill and the best news of all, it’s a skill that can be learned. I have been digging into John Carlton material recently and now your blog post has inspired me to dig out my Yanik material.

The skill of copywriting from an Internet/Network Marketers perspective should be overlooked no longer. It’s used everywhere!

Thank you Ty,

Stiffer competition.

Howdy Jason,

Thanks…

Your spreading the “dirty little tricks” around is what’s gotten so many new, up-and-comers, off to such a Great start…Both at Better Networker and on personal blogging.

There’s no denying, this Online Marketing is all about the Copy…

It doesn’t matter what business your in, if you’re gonna market Online, you’ve Got to either learn to write it, or hire someone who can.

Hey Jason,

Doesn’t it bother you when you start finding articles you’ve written on other peoples sites?

Lately, I’ve found a rash of my articles popping on other folks sites…I guess I should take it as a compliment, but it really chaps my hide when others simply plagiarize good Copy…What’re your thoughts?

Your buddy,

Mitchell Dillman

Thoughts.

Send them an e-mail if they’re reproducing the whole article without giving you credit.

But don’t let it take up too much time.

You’re better off writing more because nobody can steal your personality.

All they can do is stay three steps behind you.

If it’s really serious… obviously seek legal advice… I wouldn’t want to lead you astray.

Hey J

The Search Is On For The Worlds Next Top Marketer (look out of the blog post)

The really great copywriters standout a mile. I am observing as many as I can and refining my own CW skills.

There has been a huge increase in great headlines lately. I think you need to take a bow for that. As most people in “The Better Bunch” learn directly from you. (Your demise is your own fault ha ha ha – evil laugh)

Truly you are a great copywriter, marketer and all round great guy (cartoon).

It has been great picking up little golden nuggets from you on a daily basis. Thank you sir.

Have a great weekend
Dwayne

Hey J,

I think the biggest thing I learned from coming here is the power of a killer headline – it is like gold dust! (ha).

You sure have inspired a group of bloggers here that have been watching and taking action.

Each time I visit I see new faces that are learning the “tricks of the trade” and building a brand for themselves.

Kudos to you and your blog.

Hi Jason, Yes Yanik Instant sales lettesr are the best for beginners but Dan Kennedy is also a must read. And copywriting is one of the most underated skill as most of marketers focus on SEO, PPC, etc,
but copywriting should be the base to start with. Thanks for the post.

Gosh, how did I forget that?

I just got a hard copy of that one in the mail a few weeks back.

Read it years ago, but a lot of my reading now is rereading stuff again.

That one is a classic.

Hey Jason,

I’m learning all I can about CW these days, but I must say that I’ve learned a lot from you, right here on this blog.
I have also realized that the more I do it, the more I hone the skill. I’m by no means a pro, but learning every day and lovin’ it right!

It’s definitely one of those skills that needs daily practice.

I’m amazed by some people who pick it up in months.

It certainly didn’t happen that way for me.

Hey Anne,

What I like best is the tool-box PDF.

It’s a handy reference guide for power words, short-cuts, and other templates that you
can modify in a pinch.

The other templates are cool too.

But, I would probably use them as outlines and use my own words for maximum effect. :-)

Hi Jason,

I have not yet checked out Yanik Silver’s Instant Sales Letters but I am definitely interested. I am still working on my copy skills and I find that there is sooo much to learn.

Eventually I will learn a bunch and then I guess I will find there will be more to learn :-) It always seems to work that way.

Gosh, I have more copywriting books than I can shake a stick at.

But, if you stick to one or two courses at first.

Take it slow, then it doesn’t have to be overwhelming.

Wayne Vassell’s really been coming up with some doozies, for example.

I’ve really enjoyed it because it makes me want to “step my game” up…

But truly, I’d have to say you’re kind of the “Copywriting Socrates” of this group — we come here to get our daily dose of the “Better Copywriting Philosophy”

Jason,

This is a Great post!

I have to admit, as of late…I’ve been absolutely obsessed with anything to do with copywriting!

I just recently picked up John Carlton’s “Simple Writing System”, Rich Schefren & Todd Brown’s “Email Persuasion Formula”, and pretty much anything I can get my hands on from Ben Settle!

I don’t have any of Yanik’s stuff yet… so you can probably guess who’s course(s) I’ll be picking up next??? ;)

Thanks buddy,

- Yo
