Jing Makes Marketing Easy…

jing-logoThis is soooo cool! Here’s an easy to use tool that could really make a difference when you’re communicating with your team. This tool could also be used to add content to your blog or social media sites too.

They call it “Jing”

It’s software that allows you to capture your screen in real time and it records audio too. It’s brought to us by the wonderful people at Techsmith.com. The same guys who brought us Camtasia and Snagit. The best part, is that this tool is so brain dead easy to use. You just click and record.

Did I mention there’s a free version?

The part that sucks, is that it only records up to five minutes. So if you want to record longer screen captures then you’ll have to invest in Camtasia which is kinda like the pimped out version of Jing. But I doubt you’ll do that because even the paid version of Jing is good enough for most of your content or team work needs.

How could you use Jing?

Essentially, it’s the tool you want to use for quick tutorials. If you want to go all out then I recommend you pay for the professional version which is still pretty cheap.

A buncha ways to use Jing…
-Creating content for your blog
-Duplicating your training for your downline
-Helping people out with technical stuff
-Communicating with your team
-Creating narrated slideshows
-Critiquing or designing projects
-Quick and dirty product creation

And whatever…

But if you’re like me then you’re just wondering how you could use Jing to take over the world. Or at least, a social media site like Better Networker…

So how could you use Jing to dominate a site like Better Networker?

This is a topic that’s close to my heart. I probably read more content on BetterNetworker.com than almost anybody else. I don’t say that too brag, but I have to stay on top of things. But I always have this thought in the back of my mind that most people aren’t really realizing their full potential on that site.

They’re simply blending in…

SO when I see a tool like Jing or Camtasia, I can’t for the life of me understand why some clever networker doesn’t take 10 minutes a day to post helpful community content that shows people how to set up their widgets or diddly doos.

I mean, some people are really catching on, but if you picked a specific topic and “jinged” screenshot tutorials every day, not only would you be standing out from the crowd and generating leads for free, but you would also be able to repackage some of that content and sell it as a product too. Maybe even build your own funded proposal using the principles MD talks about in Magnetic Sponsoring. Now wouldn’t that be cool?

It’s like knocking out two pigeons with one stone…

But the key would be persistence. These days it’s hard to outspend someone but you can almost always outwork the competition with a short daily session of content creation. It’s hard to spend 10 minutes a day focused on a single task. It’s not a lot of work, but almost nobody is capable of it over the course of a year.

For instance, I write blog posts every week day. Sure, I mess up every once in a while, but the body of work stands for itself. If you told me to write 60 articles, I would tell you that you were insane. That’s like writing a book! But If you spend a bit of time every day, you can easily write 60 blog posts in two months. Believe it or not.

It’s all about persistence and good habits…

A little more about standing out with Jing or Camtasia…

I bet you’re wondering why people will care about your little “Jings”. The truth is, they won’t. It’s like anything else…

- You have to serve people and help them out
- You have to pick problems and solve them
- You have to give the best value you can
- You have to pick a topic that isn’t saturated
- You have to specialize and master one skill

In short, you’ll still have to market yourself, but showing up and posting content with a tool almost nobody is using on sites like Better Networker will help you cut through the clutter.

If you’re looking for the link to Jing – here it is

Have you used Jing or Camtasia before?

If you’re playing around with these tools then take a second to share a tip with the community. I’m sure there’s loads of people here who would love to learn more about tools like Jing or Camtasia.

I happen to know there’s a few video experts here too. ;-)

Hi J.

Its like you read my mind.
I am soon to start my video onslaught. (My 1st ones came out ok).

I have learned a lot from you, and I have now added doing a blog post a day to my daily activity. It’s working out good so far.

I’ll check Jing out, thanks for the heads-up

Hey Dwayne,

I’m actually surprised you’re not
“jinging” it yet.

Your videos rock.

Now this is a topic I LOVE…online video! Jing is a fantastic tool and I have used it before.

There are two more free online tools out there that also do the trick and have a couple of additional features benefits. They are:

- Screentoaster (dot com)
- Screenr (dot com)

Both are free and have great features that allow you to:

a. upload directly to YouTube (Screenr also gives you the option to tweet your videos automatically which is awesome to get maximum exposure)

b. Save the high quality movie file so you can post privately on your site (if you plan on selling your videos as a product)

c. They provide the embed code that you can copy and paste to embed the video onto your own website.

d. You don’t need to install any software on your computer to use this tool.

I’ve created a video tutorial on my blog and on BetterNetworker that shows you how easy it is to use ScreenToaster. The video is called Common Mistake People Make with Online Video Marketing Part 6 – Shying Away from the Camera

This is an excellent way for anyone to create their first online video in minutes, without actually appearing in front of the camera.

Cheers,
Hani

Cool tip, Jason, thank you! I’ll check it out. I’ve played around with uTIPu before which also has a free version.

Video seems to be where it’s at. Some people are just a bit ’slower’ than others :)

Recently I tried writing an email to explain a product to someone. I chose to use Jing to sell someone on my affiliate product (on video) I navigated between two product sites showed them the difference between the two products and the one I prefer. Told them to get into touch with me if they have any questions and shot them an email with the link. She purchased the products I recommended! Yay for me!
But I have to say I have a few more ideas after reading your post! wahoo!
Now if only there was a simple program that helps you track your results with your goals in mind.. hmmmm?

Rebecca this is a really great example

I would have buried this secret next to my

All the affiliates will be using Jing now.

Jason,

You rock dude.

I just finished a unique sales letter kinda project that has been about a week long. The whole time I’ve been working on it I’ve been thinking about video skinning it as a split test. Not that I’m a Keith Wellman disciple, just think it’s a cool idea thats time has probably come. I’ve not worked at the video side of the business yet.

I just copied the final 1st draft of the sales letter into my textedit and started thru my emails. Wala Jason has a video tool.

You’re just plane freaky that way sometime., But thanks for the psychic, time travel, mental telepathy thing or just the usual plain old fashioned good timing thing. Whatever….

soft applause for Jason….

Rock on, please!

Which reminds me, I don’t even have affiliate
links on this blog… yet anyway.

I’m just glad I could help.

Hey, Jason, this is certainly a timely post. I’m getting ready to add video marketing to my arsenal and since I’m “camera shy” I wanted to use screen capture software. I have Jing so the ideas you suggested are great.

I am also glad to hear some other alternatives to use. Now, do Screentoaster (dot com)
Screenr (dot com), and Goview let Macs use them?

[Reply]

Jason Reply:

Hmmm Tracey,

Macs!

I have to confess I recently switched sides
and went to PC.

Hi Tracey,

The best part about ScreenToaster and Screenr is that you don’t have to install any software to use them so they work on both Macs and PCs.

Just simple go to the respective web sites and click the Record button.

It really is so simple (and fun) to use.

Cheers,
Hani

Jason,

I switched to Mac in August. I got tired of PC laptops freezing. They seemed to last less than 3 years before being useless, even after clearing the hard drive and starting again. If this iMac doesn’t last longer, I’ll go back to PC for ease of use and less costly.

[Reply]

Jason Reply:

Hey Tracey,

I’m definitely a fan of Mac.

Mine served me well for six years
and I still can’t bring myself to get rid
of it.

My only problem with Mac has been the
compatibility issues. Since more people
browse on PCs… there’s so many things
I would have trouble with.

But other than that… I love the no virus
thing.

It’s probably ideal to have one of each. I still have my last pc laptop, but it is on its last legs.

Hey Jason, It’s been a long day! My family and I hiked to two waterfalls today. Our goal as I shared on BN is to photograph 1000. We have four so far this week.

Anyway here I am at nearly midnight reading your blog. I almost skipped today, and I am glad that I didn’t. I am almost done with my trial of camtasia, and I love it. I have developed some awesome content for my newest business site.

I was going to go ahead and buy it, but now I have all these options to check out. This is great. I can go through these suggestions and really do some analytics, which is something us engineers live for.

I need tools that will record for an hour or more though on my Academy courses. But I will definately give jing a try for the small stuff.

I wonder if I can use one screenshot tool to teach people how to use another. Just a thought for the BN community.

Thanks again Jason

[Reply]

Jason Reply:

Hey Chris,

That’s really cool. It sounds like you
know how to live.

As for using one screen capture to teach
how to use the others… that reminds me
of those pictures of pictures with people holding
pictures of pictures… if you follow me.
:-)

I wonder if it’s possible? There’s only one
way to find out, I guess…

Jason,

Gotta agree with Wayne Wu. Cam Studio is a great little tool to use for a lot of the same purposes you stated in your post – some othere ideas fo use it for include:

* Creating a set of videos answering your most frequently asked questions?

* I use it to give tours of the system I use when a lead asks for one.

* You can use it to record a recurring problem with your computer so you can show technical support people

* Use it to create video-based information products you can sell

Yes,

You know Jason, I have been scattered marketing for sometime, I do believe I will start that 10 minute campaign. I want to create a buzz, now where to start and what to begin my campaign about something that is not saturated.

I believe I have the perfect topic, going to do a little market research and then the first video.

Thanks,
