100 Ways To Die A Painful Network Marketing Death…

Network Marketing LeadsHey, I hope you find today’s post every bit as exciting as yesterday’s. Thanks for the feedback… it’s appreciated. :-)

Today we’re gonna talk about the dreaded list of 100 names. You’ve probably heard all about this if you’ve been in network marketing or even plain old sales for a while. It’s an old way to get leads that doesn’t really work for most people. At least not the way it’s usually done.

Here’s A New Take On This Old-School Strategy…

But I’ve found it works best if you give it a friendly spin. This new strategy works even if you’re the world’s worst salesman. And it works even better if you’re the quiet type.

Before I tell you about it… take a moment to picture how it usually works. Your upline tells you to write a list of 100 names down. People you know. Then you’re supposed to contact them one by one… annoy the heck outta them by selling and branch out from there.

Some newbies are even told to go through their cell phone contacts and start there but it’s the same frustrating game.

Why It Almost Never Works…

While it is a solid prospecting strategy… a very old one… with great potential…. the average networker simply can’t make it work. I mean, by the time you reach the end of your list, there’s a good chance you’ve offended half of your acquaintances and ticked-off most of your family members and friends.

In fact, by the time you’re done with it you might be ready to throw in the towel and sink back into a miserable job you know you hate but at least it doesn’t annoy your friends.

But it doesn’t have to be this way…

You don’t have to tick-off everyone you know and be an annoying pest. There’s an easier way to build your downline and sell. It’s called being a decent human being.

Now this advice might be controversial.

Because I’m gonna tell you to build your list of 100 names if you haven’t already and make a point of contacting them too.

BUT I’M NOT GONNA TELL YOU TO SELL THEM

Maybe you could catch up on old times or send out a few birthday cards while you’re at it. There’s nothing to say you have to sell them anything at all. By all means, be honest and tell them what you’re up to but you don’t have to sell ‘em at all. Just stay and touch and give them a chance to buy.

While you’re working your list, look for chances to network and meet new people. Just the fact that you’re out there meeting people will give you a solid stream of leads in the years ahead. No law says selling has to be tough… but it will be when you jam your product down peoples throats!

Then comes the regret of being a nuisance… a real pest. But not with this path. The path of least resistance.

When To Sell

Of course, if someone shows an interest… by all means… “show them the plan” or turn them onto your funded proposal.

In case you’re wondering… a funded proposal is an intro product, a generic marketing solution like Mike Dillard discusses in Magnetic Sponsoring book. If you’ll forgive me for “plugging” his book a second, it’s worth every dime. Not saying you should buy it right this instant but you might want to look it up if you get a chance.

Now if I offended the internet marketers this should clear things up a bit. You see, I’m not saying you should rely on old farty prospecting techniques for most of your leads but it sure won’t hurt you one bit and it’s a pleasant change from the daily grind of landing pages, e-mail campaigns and technology. You know, it’s almost nostalgic!

Anyway, I think you’ll agree it’s a far cry better than forcing your opportunity on friends, family members, and everybody else you’ve grown up with. And if you just relax and let things happen you might be amazed by the relationships you strike fire into again.

This might just change your life and business around for good.

And what do you have to lose?

Thank you Frank. I think it’s
important to remember where we
all came from. So many people
ignore the basics now. When human
nature barely changes at all. :-)

It’s a pleasure to seeing you here.

I know that online marketing is the best way to go but think of the person who has 10k followers on Twitter yet on Friday night they sit at home alone. You have to get out and live your life so combining offline with online marketing works because you are living your life anyway so definitely integrate offline marketing into your life. If you the person that sits at home on Friday night, then online marketing only is the best way to go.

Whoa. Couldn’t have made a better point myself.
You rock Shirland.

So many internet marketers
are set in their ways. They wouldn’t send a
snail-mail letter or talk to a real human being
if their lives depended on it. I think it’s important
to keep an open mind like yours.
