The Wheels On The Network Marketing Bus…
Let’s face it, the Internet is getting a little crowded these days. It’s like a city bus with too many bums on it.
The air reeks, there’s a screaming kid next to you, and you swear that couple over in the corner is doing something illicit behind the seat…
So where are you gonna sit down?
Do you have to wait for some burly bearded guy to get off the bus, or do you steal a seat before an elderly nun snatches it from you?
Whatever it takes…
When you see your window (or seat) of opportunity, you snatch it.
I’m not saying you have to steal seats from nuns, but you can’t sit around twiddling your thumbs and listening to your ipod while the world passes you by.
You have to take action.
But even action isn’t enough these days.
You need to be the first person at that bus stop…
The first person in line. Or at least, somewhere in the middle. There’s no room for people who like to sleep in every day. No room for procrastinators.
Yeah, I’m calling you out “Night owls”.
Kidding, you’re probably working while I sleep… I’m just jealous.
Anyway, it’s like dating, the guy who gets the girl isn’t always the best looking dapper dude in a blazer with a rose, it’s the neanderthal in a t-shirt that walks up to her in total confidence and asks her out first.
It’s the man (or woman) with a plan, who acts on it immediately that gets the glory.
Some people call it the “first mover advantage”.
And it’s not something you can ignore.
But how do you get that advantage in a crowded market like network marketing?
I’ll tell you how.You get it be narrowing your focus. You pick one skill that everybody needs to sponsor more reps or generate more leads and you master that one skill.
Forget about everything else.
You don’t need to be a blogger and pay-per-click expert.
You don’t need to be a Twitter and Facebook expert.
You don’t need to be a article and audio expert.
But you do have to build your value to others.
I hate to disappoint some people,
But success boils down to two principles…
1) Setting an ultra-specific goal.
2) Working on that ultra-specific goal every day.
It’s one of the biggest reasons that Alphas attract people effortlessly.
They know where they’re going.
So where are you going?

RSS, my friend!
Always listen to the crazy women, Jason (LOL)
You should definitely give Monique a listen, she’s a “natural” on camera and audio–
She’s not big on techie details like I can be, but she’s big on heart and mindset…

I have to use RSS these days… I
read way too many blogs.
I’m definitely gonna to make some
time to check Monique’s content out.
I’ve been meaning too for the longest
time.

Hey J
Blogging. Is definitely what I am focusing on. I want to have people eager for my content much like WE are with yours. I want to develop my brand to be well known and trusted.
My aims are, high I want to be valuably mixing in ‘Dillard’ circles. I have a lot to offer and I acquire more everyday.
I already have plans on how I will be expanding my blog and my ‘usability’.
I also will be networking with like minded individuals such as the honurable Mr & Mrs Alvarez, Wayne Vassell, Richard Bravo, yourself and many others.
Damn that’s a lot to type on an iPhone

Hah Dwayne,
You’re an addict.
Don’t worry, I find myself answering
comments before and after I brush my teeth.
So it’s all good.
But I can definitely see you guys making a huge
mark in the industry.
It’s only a matter of time and direction.

Hi Jason,
I am currently working with a team to teach and coach others to put their business online.
My personal goal, as a member of that team, is to be coaching 5 groups of 5 per week. Teaching basic skills in blogging and the importance of team work.
My next goal is to develope my own products to complement the program we are currently using.
You know this can be a lonely place to work. Teaching others how to find brainstorming partners and building master mind groups, in order to build their business is rewarding and profitable.
I worked alone for two years making very little progress. It was not until I found a mentor and 4 other team mates that I started to see progress.
Will be happy to share my results in 6 months

the way to go.
You’ll get where you’re going a lot
faster.
I’m confident that you’ll have good news

Hey Jason,
Yeah I like the “first mover advantage” point.
I see my expertise in Free marketing strategies specifically for generating MLM leads.
I noticed a lot of my prospects have the drive but not the financial resources, so it falls in line with their needs.
On top of that I seem to be naturally drawn to article marketing.
It’s funny cause I was all out for PPC when I started but Article Marketing and generating free leads just seems to work for me.
And now my buddy Dwayne Huggins is handling the blogging arm well that gives me more incentive to go for big things in 2010.
Look forward to your next post.
Have a good weekend.

Hey Wayne,
Thanks man.
I will have a great weekend.
I think you have to go with your passions. If article
marketing is your thing then stick to it.
PPC rocks, but you have to play to your strengths to.
And have a great weekend too Wayne.

Jason,
The internet is crowded and noisy to the point that we just get hardened to it and don’t even remember what it’s like in the more quiet places like your diggs here and at BN. I appreciate reading in these places because the conversation is just more…. professional…. I guess is the best way to put it. Maybe constructive is better.
I posted my first post on Buzzle.com yesterday and the place just seemed sensible and unhurried to me. I had to stop and appreciate it and remind myself to get out of the noise more often.
Your first paragraph is so spot on. I want to grab the disheveled driver by his jacket and shake him before I pull him out of his seat and make him walk to the back of the bus to sit with the wild haired stinky lady with no teeth. That’s what he gets for not giving a da_n about himself or anybody else.
We can’t make the whole internet highway a better place, but we can sure as all heck keep our own cars safe and comfortable for anyone who might want or need a ride. And peer pressure, even on a crowded street, is more powerful than we might give it credit for.
I will learn about, experiment with, and strive for success in driving traffic with video skinning. Sometimes people lock eyes with the person in a crowded room who is whispering, only because everybody else is yelling.
OK, I’m goin’ to button my jacket and put on the gloves and my hat. I need to be insulated from the elements that are so different from they are in here.
Sorry if you feel some of that cold wind when I open the door on the way out. There’s been a blizzard warning issued out there!!!
They say we should all stay inside tonight where its safe.
Have a great weekend Jason and everybody at Jasonbetter.com

Hey Tim,
Blizzard warning?
Ouch.
I like to think of blogs as a safe haven
like your car analogy.
It’s like having a home online. You have
guests from time to time, but you don’t
have to put up with anybody who steps
way out of line unless you want too.
Have a great weekend too Tim.

I am working on being the person who took the leap of faith and bought the car to take me where I want to go. Meanwhile everyone else looking out the window of the bus edure the stop and go like the uncontrolled effort of their lives.
If someone wants to come along for the ride and offers great map reading then LET”S GO!

Hey Jas,
Like a lot of people here, I’m into blogging as well. I’m a student of Traffic Formula 2 and most people here probably are as well.
I’m excited about watching mine and other people’s blogs grow. It keeps me accountable too.
Spot on with Setting an Ultra Specific Goal and working on it every single day.
I’ve set myself a goal, but I don’t agonise over it too much. I just focus on 3 daily activities that will get me there.
I like Derek’s boldness.
Cheers,
Wayne

Jason,
I think for me it is either article writing or blogging. i sort of feel more comfortable in articles than blogs (results wud indicate anyways) so i guess that where I shud focus). I do have a nagging feeling though that I am missing something and can’t quite put my finger on it right now.
Have a great weekend all.

Hey Jason,
Love the blog post.
My goal is to master social media marketing. It is a challenge for sure! But, the reality is it fits most peoples budgets quite well. As I master it I teach my team the skills they need so they too can see success without breaking the bank. I still have a ton to learn but I am up for the challenge.
Thanks for the post!
Live Great!

Hello Jason,
Thanks for this reminder that we don’t need to master everything.
I have started my blog & my focus is to post valuable content and use social media to get traffic.
I wasted much time doing a bits here, and bits there… fortunately TF2 course is helping me to learb how to give my focus where necessary.
Thanks again Jason – Have great week-end!

Hi Jason,
I must say, my focus is blogging too. I am in great company as there are some fantastic bloggers here.
I have dabbled in a few different areas of marketing in recent years, but now the blogging bug bit me and I focusing more and more on that.
I admire your style (as well as Mike Dillards.) You seem to just write about whatever comes to mind and you write as if you were talking to me personally. I love that.
I have a slight disadvantage as English is not my first language. But, I’ll be working on that…that disadvantage, I mean.

Hiya Jason,
Great post as usual. You are right the Internet is pretty crowded which is exactly why you have to stop trying to look and be like everybody else. That’s a sure way to drown in the masses. I don’t think one always has to be first at the bus stop but when you get there everybody else has to notice you then they’ll step aside and let you on first anyway. It’s all back to becoming the ALPHA we must!
As for focus, this is just KING my friend. It took me a good few years to learn this lesson. I am sure “Mistress Focus” beat her head against the brick wall every time she saw me set myself up to fall…. again! Eventually I got it!
Once again you have to focus on what is best for you not just because it’s working for someone else. It’s all about really knowing ourselves which is what Mike Dillard means when he says “You have to work harder on yourself than on your business.”
Cheers
Marcus

Hi Jason.. I think your comment about focusing in one good area that we feel comfortably at is the best thing and you are right. And this gives me kind of relief because having out there so many ways how to generate traffic or leads, some like blogs, others like article writting, tweeter, etc., you think you have to master all of them and this kills me. So good advise, and as always keep the good and hard work.
Blessings

Hey there, Jason. Because I am approaching online business on a part time basis, I have been focusing and working with one thing at a time. Once I master it, then I move onto another project. My goal is to be able to brand myself, offer value to others through inspiration, helping others to reach their goals and achievements.
There are so many great leaders out there to “hang out with” which you can learn and grow from. I hope to someday become an example in the Internet World just as all you leaders have become.
To A Happy Ending!

Nothing wrong with part time.
Jim Rohn was big on that.
And there’s plenty of room around the

up on their dreams.

Hi Jason,
Am I the first one?!
Nice!
My specific goal is blogging — I want to get 100,000 visitors a month by the end of the year.
Lofty, I know, but I have some strategies that include using video marketing (my wife’s job) and learning pay-per-click.
What’s nice is we’ve been figuring out some good keywords without wasting money by starting with video marketing.
Looking forward to telling you my results in December!

Hey Derek,
Yep!
You’re the first. What do you do?
Read my mind or use RSS?
Those are some lofty goals… but a crazy woman
once told me “aim for the stars… at least you’ll
end up in the sky.”
Monique has been sharing loads of content…
Actually, I’ve been trying to budget some
more time to listen to the audio she’s putting
up on BN.
I’m pretty psyched about that.
