More MLM Leads With New Facebook Share Button

Facebook Share ButtonDid you notice something funky about this blog lately? I’ll give you a hint. It’s blue and starts with the “F” word. Yes, it’s exactly what you’re thinking.

It’s the Facebook Share Button!

Aren’t you excited?

Well, you should be!

This little button is a gem. It works pretty much exactly like the Tweetmeme Button. Which makes it easier for people to share your blog posts with friends on Twitter. Only this time it’s for Facebook. So I think you’ll like this.

Unless of course, you already have too many leads or too much web traffic and you’re lighting your fireplace with hundred dollar bills. In that case, well, you should probably pass this article on to your virtual assistant and get back to burning money. Anyway…

Here’s How To Install Your Very Own Facebook Share Button:

1. Login to your Wordpress Dashboard. It’s the same place you go to edit or write your blog posts.

2. Look over to the far left. You see all those links? Well, you’re looking for the one that says “plugins”. Click on that and you’ll see a list of your previously installed Wordpress plugins. You don’t have to click that right now.

3. Below the “plugins” link is one that says “Add New”. Now, that’s the one you want to click right away. It should bring up a screen that says “Install Plugins”. And below that will be a little search box with a button that says “Search Plugins”.

4. Type: “Facebook Share”. The one I use is called “Facebook Share (New)”. It’s the same button that Mashable and other popular sites use too. You’ll want to click on that and go to the next step.

Note: With some plugins all you have to do is click “install” when the next screen pops up. The Facebook Share Button is a little more involved. So if you’ve never uploaded files to your blog webhost this might get a little confusing.

5. This should bring you to a new page. Where you’ll see a big orange “Download” button. If you click this then you’ll download the zip file for the Facebook Share Button. Unzip the file on your desktop. Make sure you know where it is.

6. Upload the file to your webhost. You’ll need your passwords for your webhost. And you’ll have to have a basic knowledge of how to upload files to your webhost to do this but it’s really easy if you’ve done that before.

• You’ll want to upload the unzipped file folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ folder on your webhost. It may take you a few minutes to find it. Just put the folder in there and head back to your wordpress dashboard.

7. Activate the Facebook Share plugin by going to the “plugins” link in your Worpress dashboard. Just find the plugin in your list and click the “Activate” button.

8. Configure your new plugin. You’ll have to configure this plugin before it’s ready. At the far left of your Worpress dashboard where you found the “plugins” link, there will now be a “Facebook Share” section (assuming you activated the plugin).

9. Play with settings. If you’re a little lost at this point then I’d recommend you get someone else to install this for you. But if you’re geeky then you can click on the “settings” link and play with them.

10. Analytics. There’s a cool option below the settings link called “Analytics”. This lets you track how people are using your Facebook Share Button over time. It’s really cool, because you’ll be able to see which posts of yours are getting shared most… how many clicks and such.

And you’re all set.

At least I hope you are. :-(

Any Questions?

I know how frustrating it can be when things aren’t working out for you. And if you leave a question below I will do my best to answer it. Keep in mind that I am not a programmer. I just know a few things about Wordpress. But I would love to help if I can.

If you’re really stuck at this

If you’re really stuck, then you probably shouldn’t be playing around with the technology side of things. Build yourself a team, before you to throw your computer out the window.

We all have to play to our strengths. There’s a lot of things I can’t do myself. So I rely on my team to do those things for me. It’s well worth building a relationship with someone who finds this stuff easy.

And that’s the best tip I can give.

The Wrap Up

Anyway, this is a really cool plugin that you can’t afford to miss. I know this sounds like a big claim but for most people It could easily double the amount of web traffic they’re getting.

Not bad, for 30 minutes of work. Right?

To your success,

Well Good Morning Jason!

What a great post…I’ve been seeing the fb button on more and more blogs. Now I can have one too.

Your comment about forming alliances with others is so true…

I just gotta tell ya, I’ve recently found my ‘kindred spirits’, my online brothers and the JV we’re putting together is going to Blow the Top off anything you’ve ever seen!

I can’t spill the beans just yet, however, you will soon be left wondering just where the heck we came from…It’s very exciting stuff, I can’t wait to tell you more.

Hey Jason, listen, I’ve just posted a great holiday poem I’d like to share, head on over
to the BN and look for ‘Inernet Marketers Night Before Christmas’. I’ll put a smile on your face…

Thanks again for all you do!

Happy Holidays to all,

MD

Hey Patty,

I love it too. But then, I loved

it was only a matter of time till this
Facebook button spread like a virus. :-)

Thanks Jason for yet another great tip!

I’ve recently added the TweetMeMe plugin (I saw it on your site) and now just added the FaceBook Share.

There is another great plugin that I use on my site as well hthat adds some buttons to the bottom of each post to allow you to share the post on Twitter, Facebook, Plurk, Yahoo Buzz, Delicious, Digg, MySpace, Ping.fm, Reddit, and StumbleUpon social media sites…and it looks sexy too.

The plugin is called “Tweet This”. For anyone who is interested, you can follow Jason’s steps above but instead search for “Tweet This”.

Cheers,
Hani

Awesome Hani,

The tweet button is crazy good
for web traffic. I seriously wouldn’t
blog without it unless something new
came along.

Then again, I’m a bit of a Twitter-holic.

Hey J’,

What a cool facebook button!
I’ve used a different one but this
is far better.

One thing though,
I installed directly from my
wordpress admin area. Didn’t
need to upload it manually.

Which mean everyone can do it!

Thanks again,
just switched to your button :)

Hey Adam,

Nice! I was wondering why it wanted
me to download the whole thing and
install manually.

But, seems you’ve found the easy way.

Gosh.

Jason… I don’t see plugins… anywhere … I want to install the facebook share… will you take a look? I’m new to this… thanks for all your help.

[Reply]

Jason Reply:

Hi Carol,

Let’s see if I can help.

On the far left of your Wordpress dashboard
will be a list of links. This is the same screen
you’ll see when you edit your Wordpress posts.

The links will read something like this from top to
bottom:

Dashboard
Posts
Comments
Appearance
Plugins
Users
Tools
Settings

These are the names of the standard dashboard
links in Wordpress. As long as you’re in Wordpress and
logged into your dashboard those links listed
above will be on the far left.

Don’t be afraid to take it slow and read every word
on the screen. Sometimes I miss a button too. But when
I remember to take it slow that usually helps me.

I hope that helps a little. If not then I have
to recommend starting very very small.

Visit the Wordpress codex at:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

And they have short tutorials on Wordpress. Much
more detailed then I can get into here.

Of course, your second best bet is to get
friendly with a tech-savvy person. I have a great
team here that helps me when I get stuck like
this too.

Happens to the best of us.

Adam Goldman  on December 21st, 2009

Hey J’,
quick question.
Have you updated your
wordpress to 2.9?

I’ve just updated mine,
and looks like the facebook
button is gone. Any ideas?

What a shame,
I really loved it :(

[Reply]

Jason Reply:

Hey Adam,

You might have to update your
plugin through your “installed plugins”
screen. Right now I need to update
again. But usually plugins lag a little
behind.

This might be the prob with the Facebook
Share plugin or maybe you just need to
activate it again?

Not really sure man. Wish I was a little
more tech savvy.

I created a short how-to video on how to install the plugin:

Hey Jason, it’s me again! I was wondering what your settings are to allow the TweetMeMe button and the Facebook Share button to show at the same time?

My Facebook Share button settings are

float: right; margin-left: 10px;

Did you tweak this to allow it to show?

[Reply]

Jason Reply:

Hey Derek,

float: right; margin: 10px 10px 10px 10px;

Seems to do the trick for me. Let me know
if that works for you.

It looks like it might not be compatible with the latest version of Wordpress yet…

Thanks for the quick reply!

[Reply]

Dan  on December 22nd, 2009

I have the same problem as Adam.

I just updated Wordpress to version 2.9 and my Facebook Button stopped showing.

I guess we have to wait for an plugin update.

[Reply]

Jason Reply:

Wow Dan,

That sucks. Maybe I should
hold back on my update till
the plugin is up to speed?

Hmmm… that puts a damper
on my excitement. But still a
really sweet plugin with
Wordpress 2.8. Can’t wait till
the new update is in.

for the update so it works with 2.9… well
that sucks a little.

The 'MLM" Cowboy  on March 7th, 2010

We meet again man.

I just got my blog up and running,’Cowboys’, “Cowgirls” and ‘Cowgada”

I’m still not sure , how to get you there, but I just started yesterday and I am fixing to get “MLM” on FB, but I’m having a problem,

I can’t find the frigin’ , plug in button you are talking about.

I’m going to be showing everybody my progress, so I don’t need to do this until 3am in the morning

That’ll leave you a little time , before you drop everything you are doing , and come to my rescue.

” Hey dude”, I’m sorry , it’s Sunday” ,I’m sorry for botherin’ you. ( Do you really believe that).

I know you are a ” Goin Jessy”, (Go getter), and I would almost bet you get about as much sleep as I do.

Getcha eight (8) “Suner Shitsa: dogs and go to bed, you’ll get uo early.

.What is a “Sunurshitsa

They are a breed if dog that was developed in Van Horn , Texas

They are bred to produce various size piles of dog crap and they Suner Shitsa in my house than outside.

Hey Man! I don’t have a TV , I gotta jack with somebody

Let me jack with this crap awhile , and just before I go over the edge and leave a suicide note. I will get back to you

I tried this before, but have a hell of the time staying on one project.

I had an old cowboy friend of mine say (I’ll try to say it without all the adjectives)

” If you ain’t f—— up, you aint trying.

Hell, I’m half way there. I have always been a trying sob, that made lot’s of mistakes, so looks like I’m qualified right now to teach something.

Hey Jason, I really appreciate you, stand back and watch,

I bet I don’t have to do a bunch of keyword research when I finally become ‘The Magnetic Cowboy. (Yeah I have a plan). ( I can’t wait to bring him to life)

As soon as I get over this little hump and get my web page built, you will probably see “MLM” coming
around the first turn with free leads shooting right straight out of his pants.

I already have a hugh following on FB (600 friends or so), .

43 yrs playin’ in honky tonks , and have several thousand fans. Thank you for showing me , how to leverage what I have,

Mr Jason, one more question,”

Do you ever just feel like kickin’ the dog crap outta somebody/” , or do you think I might have an anger management problem.

My dad sponsored a guy and the buy in was $1699,he calls me and say’ ” MLM”, i just don’t think this things gonna work, now I said in a really calm tone of voice. “Have you ever tried pulling your head out of your butt?”.

I know thats’s not exactly the way it was taught, might just be that Alpha poppin’ out

Hey’ and I felt goos about it. I am not going to be ‘The Baby Sitting Cowboy’

“I’ve got chickens to feed and horses to breed”

Anyway my dad gave him back his money , and guess eho took his place. “MLM”

I may have a little to much Alpha attitude,

but carrying around one of those fold up, black boards and drawing circles with erasable magic markers isn’t worth a crap.

” I’d rather take a hand full of “Fire Ants” , drop them down the front of my pants,

Than ever listen to another ‘Plan”

Here’s The MLM Cowboys motto:

‘ “I Don’t Give A Big Rats Ass”

I’m not running an MLM , rehab center.

Later Jason,

The MLM Cowboy

Hey Clay,

If you’re really stuck then try “Googling” Facebook Share
Button. It installs exactly like other plugins do. So you will have
to have a basic understanding of how to do that first.

However, some versions of Wordpress experience problems
with that widget. So it doesn’t work for everybody. :-(

As for beating up people… that might just be an anger
management thing. I’m more into trying to help people. :-)
