Puts Your Face On Comments…
This is almost as creepy as the movie “Invasion Of The Body Snatchers”. Because everywhere I go, people are walking around without a face.
No, seriously! People visit my blog every day and when I look at their face, they have no eyes, or ears, or even breathing holes.
I’m getting a little creeped out already…
And I’m not the only one…
Hands down the most frequently asked question around these parts is…
“Jason, how do I get my face to show up beside my comments like the cool people on the Jason Better Blog?”
Or something like that.
Well, it’s easy to do, but I can’t take all the credit for this because Derek Alvarez, is really the one who gave me the link.
You see, all you have to do is go over to Gravatar.com and watch their little video. They’ll give you the low down on why you need a Gravatar and then all you have to do is look for the blue bar on the top of the website and click the sign-up link.
Don’t worry, they guide you through without too much fuss. It isn’t brain surgery but it’s definitely worth the 47 seconds it takes to set up.
First things first…
Before you go over there, it helps if you have your picture ready, because you’re gonna have to upload one of those.
I suggest that you either use a mugshot or a cartoon of yourself because people like to know they’re talking to a human being.
I don’t know what people are thinking when they use a picture of a kitten, logo, or porn star as their avatar, but trust me, it’s always a bad idea.
Essentially, it’s another way to brand yourself online.
So take it seriously, because your comments in blogs, and forums will be around for a very long time.
Here’s the link to Gravatar.com
This is definitely the number one question here on JasonBetter.com so please share this link with your friends on Facebook or Twitter as you see fit.
Whichever is your favorite.
Thank you,
Jason The “Better Networker”

Hey Jason,
Todd Falcone posted a video the other day that featured his alter ego Buzzy Boxer and he was talking about Facebook, which he pointed out wasn’t ‘FaceLessBook’
Having a picture helps people identify with you, which is the whole point.

I thought it was time to share what the link

Now, I can just point people to the article.

Hi Jason,
I have to be honest, I am embarrassed to admit I was asking that same question to myself not too long ago! lol
Well, hey, we all live and learn!
I am sure many people will be happy you posted this little gem.

one of those things everybody asks eventually.
Thank you man.

Good Morning Jason,
I was one of those people who asked you too
It makes a huge difference to have your picture out there. For one, you are branding yourself. Which, in itself should be your top reason for adding your picture.
Another thought, yes, people like to know who they are dealing with. Just imagine you walk into a store and the sales clerk (or owner) is wearing a ski mask. You’d be out the door again in a split second
Remember … know, like, trust, buy.

basics.

Hi Jason,
This post is Grrreat!! Just another example of how when you give quality content, people will interact and you can meet so many awesome people.
I agree that people want to see a face attached to content. When you’re face is everywhere, people will remember you.
Can you imagine a movie with all faceless people? Can’t imagine that would be a big box office hit. lol
Well, have a great day. Looking forward to the next post.

You may of noticed my Gravatar has developed.
It has a logo and a pic. Best of both worlds I think, what do you think?

Jason,
I was one of those who couldn’t figure out how to get a picture onto your site. I checked to see if it came from BN and I looked around here a few times and thought, oh well I’m too stupid to figure it out. That happens to me a lot.
I should have just asked because that was way easy.
I learn something here everyday. Thank You!
p.s. Sorry, Dwayne and I still don’t have any ears. But at least I can see now. I love what you’ve done with the place, it looks great.

Is using a cartoon of yourself a real recommendation? (Present company excluded).
Who is your artist?

Jason Reply:

Hey Justin,
Raymond Fong uses a cartoon of himself too.
I think it’s a great way to stand out from the masses,
without being impersonal either.
I don’t mean to offend ugly people either, but
some people are pretty intimidating… so it’s
a cool option.

Hi Jason!
Thank you, I have been trying to figure this out on my own. My networking friends from my primary opportunity has pictures of their dogs and flowers, stuff like that on Facebook. I am always telling them if they are going to recruit and network, people need to see a person if they are going to network and get to know you. Build Trust! BTW, is there another specific site that we can use images to add to our blog. Can we use any image as long as it’s not used for profit? Thanks
Tommy

Hey Tommy,
I would go with a paid stock photo
site if you have the cash… if not, then public
domain Google pics are one of the best places
for blog photos.

.
Anyway, thanks for always providing HUGE value!

Good Morning Jason,
Great to SEE you this morning…
You said it…It doesn’t matter what kind of business you’re in, folks like to know who they’re dealing with.
Something as simple as your picture (a gravatar) next to your name can make a HUGE difference in how others SEE you…
One quick side note Jason…I once knew a porn star who used a kitten for her logo…That’s another story for another time
Picture yourself having the best day of your life…Now, Do It.!
