Six Ways To Be A Facebook Marketing Maven – By Jason Better
I’m writing this article on my oldest laptop. One of those “PowerBook G4″ laptops from back in the day… before Intel put their sticker on them. Anyway, I’ve had this thing since B.F. (Before Facebook) and it’s the one I use for my personal correspondence too.
It should have it’s own Facebook profile…
It certainly has enough personality. The ‘n’ key is barely there. The outer-case (an aluminum alloy) is pitted. The speakers are filled with something I can’t seem to get out… like laptop earwax or something.
And geeze, sometimes when it goes to sleep… it doesn’t wake up!
I’d toss it out… but honestly…
It’s kinda grown on me… like you kinda grow on people over time with Facebook. Besides, I think I could learn a thing or two about marketing from this little laptop. At least in persistence.
I mean, I spilled a glass of water on it two years ago… and it’s still ticking… It’s obviously possessed like Herbie the lovebug…
Anyway, I’m going off on a tangent so let’s get down to business. I’m dedicating these Facebook marketing tips to this lovable laptop that refuses to die…
Six Ways To Be A Facebook Marketing Maven – By Jason Better
Be Dependable: You know, when I wake up in the morning and I’m slurping down a mildly warm cup of coffee… bumping into doors… tripping on couches and getting ready to roll for the day… I know my laptop is the one pillar of total security in my life. I mean, even the bank messes up from time to time… but my laptop… well it’s blessed or something.
The same principle will work miracles for you on Facebook. If you’re consistently there for people (and I need to follow my own advice) they grow to trust you and like you… and that’s more important than anything you could ever say in an article or sales letter.
Be Lovable: In any case, marketing on Facebook… (or any other social media platform) is all about personality. Nobody will ever be bored into joining your team. And if you watch any of the last eighteen Terminator movies or TV episodes then you already know almost nobody trusts robots… so show your friends you have heart… the human touch.
Be Sharing: I’m not saying you should turn your Facebook status into a Twitter feed… but it never hurts to share resources you love or quotes that changed your life. A lot of what you know about Twitter applies to Facebook Marketing too.
Be Engaging: I’m totally guilty of this one (it’s a time thing) but if you really want to build a following fast then engage your Facebook friends by commenting on their profiles, asking questions, and taking a genuine interest in their lives.
The old Dale Carnegie “How To Win Friends And Influence People” wisdom “Become genuinely interested in other people.” applies every bit as much today as it did when it was first published in 1936.
Be Remarkable: On Facebook you should strive to be “Remarkable” or worthy or “remark”. Keep putting yourself out there. Be unique. Stand out from the crowd by ignoring it and going in the opposite direction. If everyone is wearing a suit then wear t-shirts. If everyone is posting articles then post videos instead.
>>Attention is half the battle these days.
Be Pleasant: Momma’s advice: “If you don’t have anything good to say then clamp your teeth.” has always been good advice. There are times when you have to stand up for what you believe in… and you should… but always think twice before replying in anger… because the same laws that protect people from slander in newspapers… apply online too.
At best, you could get banned…
At worst, you could end up with a lawsuit and massive debts that will haunt your loved ones for the rest of your life…
Of course, you could dig a hole and hide under a rock like Saddam Hussein.
I think it’s easier to be nice. Don’t you?
And that’s it for today…
Six Simple Facebook Marketing Tips…
I Dedicate To My Sleepy Laptop…
• Be Dependable
• Be Lovable
• Be Sharing
• Be Engaging
• Be Remarkable
• Be Pleasant
And above all, have a little fun!
I think that’s the most important tip. Don’t you?
I mean, some people look at social media as a dreary job they HAVE to do. It soaks through everything they write, everything they post on Facebook and when nobody wants to “play” with them they pout like smelly wet towels.
So smile and have a little fun!
To your Facebook success,

P.S. Are You A Facebook Marketing Maven? If you could to share one… just one Facebook Marketing tip… with network marketers who read the Jason Better Blog like you… that would be really cool.

That phone tip I was told by another hairstylist. She had her own small business that she passed down to me. I swear I went from having no clients to 125 in a month (party from them being her customers but partly from being in a good mood and always trying to enjoy being around the people who are paying me) How much funner could it be? Getting paid to have fun!
Like any business off line people want to have an enjoyable time so should being online ![]()
Hugs!

Hi Jason,
Thanks for great tips.
My tip is, always send a message when you invite people to be your friend and NEVER send any links.

Hey Damayanthi,
Nice tip. Better than mine. It’s a short
little tidbit that I think everybody
should keep in mind.
Too many people are spamming friends
with pointless links before they get to
know them…

Hey Adam,
It’s weird how the most basic advice
is often the most powerful. This
nugget has been with me for years
and I know that a lot of people recommend
it… but GEEZE… it works.
Thanks for sharing how you discovered it
too. I love these stories.
See you around Adam… you’re everywhere man.

Hi Jase,
Hi everyone,
It’s been great learning from everyone here on jason’s blog.
As always you’re all leaving such memorable and very useful tips.
Thanks heaps.
Here’s my little FB nugget.
If someone leaves a comment or even “Likes” anything I post,
I ALWAYS reply with at least a thanks and I always go and check out their Info Page on their profile and tell them I’ve done so.
I always click on their websites and tell them I’ve done so
If they really Know what their doing and their Followers will get value from them I leave a post on their wall saying how great their blog is and that who ever is reading my post should go and check it out Right Now.
Works a treat and I’ve made some really great connections and friends this way.
Some (Most) of the ones that appeal to me are using the same systems as me so it’s no wonder they Know what they’re doing.
Again great tips everyone keep em’ coming.
Pete

Thanks Jase,
I’m glad you like.
Yeah It’s been in the works for a long time now.
Still got a few things to work out. Linking Icons and what not.
All part of the fun.
My copier repair site is the same design only the info is related to that industry.
One tech Question.
How do I display all the comments like you do here?
When I look at your posts all I do Is scroll down and there they are for all to see.

Hi Jason,
My tip is to be open.
Let people get to see who you are away from your business. I get way more people commenting and checking out my profile when I post hiking photos or funny videos than I do when I post business stuff.
Oddly enough, most of my blog’s traffic comes from Facebook, probably because I’ve piqued their curiosity with the other stuff.
Also, start a Fan Page for your blog and post content there.
We have been able to get a lot of interaction with our followers on our Fan Page, which is nice because you get a feel for what people like and what they need.

Hey Derek,
I totally second that comment.
I’m not surprised that a lot of your
web traffic comes from Facebook. It’s
a killer way to drive web traffic… especially
for us network marketers.
And definitely… fan pages can be a killer
way to drive even more traffic.

Hellooo Jason,
Great to hear from you this morning! And excellent fb tips…
I’m not sure where I heard it, but someone once told me to “smile” while talking on the telephone, people can feel your smile through the phone lines…
Now, I think this also applies while expressing yourself on fb or anywhere else for that matter.
And your comment about having fun, So True! If you’re not having any fun, you’d better find something else to do because you’ll never succeed if what you’re doin’ is a drag…
Now you, my friend, go have some FUN!
Your smilin’ buddy,
Mitchell Dillman

Morning Mitchell,
That smiling tip works! I swear. I don’t
know who came up with that one but I
swear by it when I have to call anybody
who doesn’t know me personally.
