MLM Is Not About Scams Or Greed
I was sitting here watching my belly grow, regretting last night. It seems I ate too much pizza, felt like a whale and got lazy. Although I usually go for a walk. This time, gosh, a nap sounded pretty good instead.
And while I was laying there in bed I got to thinking:
How Money Doesn’t Really Matter Much
I mean, once you reach a certain level of success… once you’re outta the worst of the “rat race”, you can only eat so many meals a day.
You can only wear so many pairs of underwear and socks
And more money isn’t gonna solve the problems most people think it will.
It certainly WON’T go out and exercise for you.
You CAN’T pay somebody to take a leak for you either.
Besides, I don’t remember who said it but…
“That Dollar Bill Isn’t Gonna Hug You At Night.”
So in the end, you have to ask yourself what you’re REALLY working for. Is it really the money? I don’t think so.
I think for a lot people it’s about freedom.
Freedom to spend more time with friends and family. Freedom to finally retire. Retire from work and the stress of never having enough money. A stress that millions of people live with every day.
Some people are in MASSIVE debt.
Others are doing better and giving back to churches and charities. Trying to leave a legacy to their children or even grandchildren.
But in the final hour, money will only do so much. No matter how noble your intentions are.
When the clock stops ticking…
You’ll wish you spent more time with your friends and family. You’ll wish you spent more time helping those newbies learn the ropes. And less time pinching pennies.
You won’t regret the money you didn’t spend… or didn’t make… but you might just regret the things you never took the time to do. The people you never hugged.
And success will start to take on a whole new level of meaning. It won’t be a matter of how many books you’ve read. But how many lives you’ve touched.
And when you close your eyes, you’ll see smiles.
To me, that’s what success is really about.
Helping other people out.
Getting better at what you do so you can help even more.
What do YOU think?
I’d really like to know what success means to you if you get a minute. If you agree or disagree with me… it’s more than okay… it’s welcome.
See you soon,
Jason Better “The Better Networker”

Success to me is leaving a legacy to future generations. How did you make the world around you a better place to live. What kind of impact have you made in your family’s life? What has the dash between the dates on your future gravestone stood for?
These are all questions one has to ask themselves to determine whether they will live a life of success or a life of sorry excuses as to why they failed in life.
Once you decide that failure is not an option in your life, you will succeed in whatever you put your mind to. Get your mind right. Thoughts are things. What you think about most WILL manifest itself in your life. You will attract it by the law of attraction. Go to work harder on yourself than you do on your living.
Today, I leave nothing on the table. I gave it everything I had and laid my head on my pillow at the end of the day knowing I have made a postive impact on the world around me.
That my friends is my definition of success,
Josh Boxer

@Josh Boxer
I completely agree Josh.
I’m a firm believer in failure as
nothing more than feedback…
There really is no other way to get
ahead. So failure is not an option.
And I think the big difference between
those of us who succeed and those who
fail… is how we all deal with “failure”

Well, I don’t know how much more I can add to this Jason because you’ve really said it all.
It isn’t about the stuff. It’s about having the time freedom to spend doing the things most important to us with the people we love most.
Time is something we never get back. My daughter is going to be 9 on Saturday. When I first started my business, she was a newborn. The last 9 years flew by as I know the next 9 will.
I’ve been there before, also having 2 sons who are now 25 and 23.
One day, it seems like you’re dropping them off at kindergarten, and in a flash, you’re dropping them off at their dorm room.
We all have to put a roof over our heads and feed our families, and of course, we need money to do that.
Sure, I like nice things, but they are just things and not my motive for being in this business.
I may never have vacation homes spread out around the globe, but my daughter has never seen the inside of a daycare center.
There’s no amount of money in the world that can replace the smile on her face because both my husband and I take her to school and pick her when the school bell rings in the afternoon.
She sees our example of creating our own financial security, rather than relying on a 9-5 j.o.b., and helping other people do the same.
That is a legacy we can pass on to her and THAT is my success.

You flatter me Patty.
I wish I said it all but you definitely
added to the conversation.
“There’s no amount of money in the world that
can replace the smile on her face because both my
husband and I take her to school and pick her when
the school bell rings in the afternoon.”
I think, we all to often lose sight of the things that
really matter in life… we forget why we’re in
network marketing in the first place.

I think you said it best above…
Success is about Freedom. Not JUST money. I find myself thinking about money money money – and not about the freedom freedom freedom that money creates. Money is a energy, that can be used to obtain other forms of energy.
Thabks for writing this – just what I needed to read to get me focused and ready to attract the energy that is money, and energy that requires money to attain.

I like your train of thought:
“Money is energy. An energy that
can be used to obtain other forms
of energy.”
Sometimes we get so focused on the
green paper that we forget why it was
even printed in the first place. lol

I love your name BTW.
Beautiful name.
Yes, me too. I wish everyone was
in it to make this world better…
it seems like some are only in it
for the money…
But I think they might be a little
blind to the reality of success.
Thanks again Twila.

You know Jason, I sure do like this community…
So many of these good people seem to think alike and I agree whole heartedly, it’s not about the money, it’s about the relationships and what you can do for others.
I spent many years of my life on the run from myself and chasing that all mighty dollar.
Just a little over a year and a half ago, I found myself headed down a tunnel towards that bright white light…I had flat lined in the back of an ambulance in route to the Hospital…
It changed the way I approach my life and look at others in it…
So much of who we are comes from where we’ve been and yet so much of our attention is wasted on where we think we’re headed…The here and now is where we are. And it’s nice to be here, with or without money.
Thank you for your inspiring thoughts.

Mitchell,
I wholeheartedly agree.
This is all we have. And you know,
the network marketing community
is filled with some of the most
fascinating and caring men and women
I’ve ever met.
I’ve learned so much from you and other
networkers from Better Networker too.
But off I must go… deadlines approach
and drafts upon drafts await.

Hey Edgar,
Thanks for dropping in.
I think we all intuitively know this.
It’s just nice to re-affirm our beliefs
from time to time.

I love your philosophy! There is so much to be learned at your site — thanks for sharing the wealth.
I have found that I am almost superhuman when I am doing something for someone else, but it can be a drag when it is purely for myself.
Once I made my business about helping other people, I became more purposeful, more dedicated, more joyful.
People want some of that — that’s how it works!

Hey Derek,
Well, I try to serve… I know that
sometimes I fall short but all in
all I’m loving the positive feedback
I’m getting from network marketers
like you.
I’ve noticed the same thing too. When
you’re working only for money… it’s
almost like everything is a drag.
When you serve a purpose you see as
bigger than yourself… that’s when the
real returns seem to come in.
Not preaching mind you. I just think
everybody needs their own personal
purpose. Something to give their life
real meaning.

Hi Jason,
what a great post and comments. What can I say… yes, most definitely success means to me is having time freedom to do what I want, when I want, with whom I want.
The major part of it is to spend time with my family, friends and with people who are less fortunate to have people caring for them.
Finally Jason, thank you for all you do because I believe you are helping many of us to get the time freedom we want and deserve.

Good evening Damayanthi
Thank you too for sending a smile.
Time with family one of those things money can’t buy…
but it sure can help make it happen. The holidays
were a good reminder of that. Good times with family
and friends.
I also think it’s part of being successful to help others
who are less fortunate out… even if it’s just to help them
up the ladder of success one rung. The higher we get, the
more success we see.
Every day is brighter than the last.:-)

One of my ideas of success is to find as much happiness/humor in every moment as possible. The power of laughter immeasurable….or is it unmeasurable?
Makes life fun.
Fun just like happiness is contagious.

Deb,
You reminded me of an interesting experience
I had after my car crash…
Everything started to look hilarious for no real
reason… I think it was the contrast between flying
off the road and then seeing how close it came
to death…
Made everything “serious” look silly.

Personally, success for me
is all about helping other people
out.
I mean, all the good stuff is still
free. Air, water, and our personal freedom
in the greatest countries across the
world.
But… I also think it’s a state
of mind too. You can be broke and still
be a success. I made up my mind a long
time ago… that I was a success as
long as I never gave up on my goals.
What’s your personal definition of
success?
