How To Write Sales Letters That Will Probably Make You Rich…

Write Sales LettersIf there’s one skill that will determine your future success in Internet Marketing without a doubt it’s your ability to write articles, letters, and website copy that sells.

But most people don’t have ten years to read all of the old books on advertising and copywriting. They want to get started making money today, not next year.

What Books Do I Personally Recommend?

Now, I’ve read almost every book you can imagine on copywriting. As a matter of fact, a few weeks ago I paid $481.90 to get four rare copywriting books shipped to me.

One of them was a really hard to find classic by advertising man Maxwell Sackheim. Another was a rare book by Clyde Bedell. I was grinning ear to ear when I ripped that box open. :-D

But I would not recommend most of the books I read to Network Marketers starting out. Because they’re usually hundreds of pages long. Because they’re usually boring as sin. And because they’re usually expensive.

There are exceptions like Joe Sugarman’s “Adweek Copywriting Handbook” or Dan Kennedy’s “The Ultimate Sales Letter” but most people just want to get started fast.

That’s why I recommend Yanik Silver’s “Instant Sales Letters”.

You won’t even have to wait for it to be shipped to you because it’s an online membership site. And it will definitely get you started fast.

Not only does Yanik give you sales letter templates you will actually use “right out of the box” but he gives you a “copy and paste” file that I use even when I’m writing articles… like this one.

He calls his “copy and paste” file the Ultimate Sales Letter Toolbox but it’s really all the openings, bullets, selling words, phrases, copy-connectors, guarantees, closes, and P.S.s you’ll ever need to create “killer” sales letters.

It’s Probably The Easiest Way To Write Money Making Sales Copy…

Basically, when you’re stuck, you just open up that book and look for the words you need. It really has made a difference in how fast I’m able to write copy.

I used to have my own “copy and paste” file but I use Yanik’s now because it’s way more organized than my chicken scratches will ever be – maybe you’re the same.

If you’re interested in getting your own copy then here’s the link…

Hey Jason,

Copywriting is a skill that I’m constantly want to improve at. There are some great individuals that read your stuff and are good at copywriting. I read their stuff all the time.

Yanik’s stuff rocks!

Have a great day…

This one cost less than the shipping on the books
I got in the other day. lol

Hey Wayne,

What I love about this one is the copywriting toolbox.
It’s like having a handy swipe file right there when you’re
stuck for words. I’ve never seen anything quite like that…
although I have binders full of ads sitting two feet away from me.

Hey Jason,

Great advice. I use a copy paste file for my sales letters that I put together after researching about a thousand sales letters on the net.

I think this is a cool tool offered by Yanik. I checked it out a few weeks ago, I think. I am not sure if this is the same one or if you are talking about something new. I know I haven’t been keeping up with the daily emails.

No one can be hurt by additional information on copywriting. My wife and I took an hour to track down all the books and courses I have been through. It came out to 112 books and 17 courses I think. It is all gold. Even the worst book I suffered through had some useful tips that I put into action.

Great post Jason

Jason Reply:

Hey Chris,

I’m totally with you on the piles of books and courses. I think
what people don’t understand is that even a small investment
in knowledge reaps big returns.

I laughed when you wrote:

“Even the worst book I suffered through had some useful tips that I put into action.”

I’ve totally been there too.

But thankfully, not too often.

I usually look to friends and other industry leaders to see what they’re going
through first.

I especially like the report he includes about

People have mailed some weird and wacky things.

The old book that he gives away with the whole thing really
surprised me too because there’s not too many old copywriting

Jason,

That IS a good one there. I’ve purchased it and it DOES have alot of value in it.

I highly recommend that people who just want something quick to put up go get it. That product has been around for years, and still sells because its a good “instant” solution for sales letters, plus has a one right out of the box for “selling’ your network marketing opportunity.

Another low cost (and I emphasize low cost and easy to follow) one I like is “Fast Food Copywriting”. It has a fairly simple step by step process for a non-professional to write simple sales letters that work.

There are tons of good ones out there (Dan Kennedy’s Ulimate Sales Letters is another great low cost option), but those two are great for the price.

Kurt

[Reply]

Jason Reply:

Definitely Kurt,

I actually don’t know of many copywriting
courses that sell for less. I think Dan Kennedy’s
book is a great start. But you can’t beat
Yanik for getting started fast – on a budget too.

I’ll have to grab a copy of “Fast Food Copywriting”.

Michel Fortin recommends that one as well. So with your word
and his. Definitely adding that to my list. :-)

Hi Jason,
Thank you for the article. You are so right in saying copy writing in the most important skill a marketer has to learn

Thank you for the link for Yanik’s Sales letter. I have been putting it off, but not anyomre.

I have spent hundreds this past month on books and would really like to know the books you purchased.

Most people are ok spending ten’s of thousand’s of dollars going to college, but struggle spending good money on books that will teach them a skill that will change their lives forever.

Let me know how I find out what books you purchased and we can exchange notes :)

Thanks again for the great content

Best wishes, Jeff Faldalen

[Reply]

Jason Reply:

Hey Jeff,

Recently purchased the classic

“Reason Why Adverting” – John E. Kennedy
“Intensive Advertising” – John E. Kennedy
“My First 60 years In Advertising” -Maxwell Sackheim
(that one was tough to find)

Also dug up two old ones by Clyde Bedell. Although I
haven’t had time to go through those yet. They’re pretty
massive. And I’m stretched for time lately.

Not books I would recommend to everybody, but if you’re
really looking around, and you’ve been through some of the
more conventional copywriting books… those are quite
interesting so far.

[Reply]

Jeff Faldalen Reply:

AWESOME!!!! Thank you.

I have heard a lot about John E. Kennedy from a lot
of other great copy writers

I look forward to reading his books

[Reply]

Jason Reply:

If you’re careful you can download a digital version of both books (the Kennedy ones) for ten bucks. But I prefer paper myself.

They’re old books… early 1900s but most modern advertising was sparked by those two and Scientific Advertising which is another one almost everybody should read.

I actually came over to ask a favour.
I know you’re real busy and all, and I was wondering if you could quickly cast your eyes over my unfinished first draft of my first ever longish sales letter for my copier service website.

We’ve spoken about it here before a few times.

Just to see if I’ve committed any obvious copywriting crimes that a seasoned pro like yourself would notice in a heartbeat.

The link is under my name here.

The sites not even up yet, it’s still on my web guy’s server.

Jason,

I’m glad you brought this up. Too many people who want to start a business don’t put much focus on the copywriting part of it, and this can doom you to failure.

Although I consider marketing to be the most important element of my business because no marketing means no traffic or sales, good copywriting increases conversions and applies major leverage to my marketing campaigns. I get more traffic and sales for the same amount of work.

Great article. Look forward to hearing more. Since I joined Better Networker, I’m looking to learn everything I can.
