Photographic SEO Secret For Network Marketers
Last week, I wrote a post about using keywords in your links. You guys loved it so much that I thought I would share another simple SEO “secret” I’ve been keeping under wraps too.
I know the SEO pros who visit my site will forgive me if I share something so obvious that it almost goes without mention. But if you’re not doing this yet it can have a massive impact on your search engine results. So here it is.
Name Your Pictures With Keywords
You should almost always name your pictures before you upload them and name them with keywords in mind.
For example, before I upload a picture of myself I would name it “Jason Better Network Marketer” or “Jason The Better Networker”. This helps the Google code monkeys identify my pictures and helps my SEO.
However, if your picture is unrelated to your article or blog post keywords then you should probably not name it. Simply call it “Image1″ or “image5″. This will stop you from getting ranked for irrelevant keywords.
Your ALT tags
If you know a little bit of HTML then you know there’s an “ALT attribute” that lets you name your images with alternate text if your readers are having trouble viewing your picture… or in some cases… if they’ve disabled their pictures. And while this is good for accessibility it’s also good for your SEO too.
Arguments have been raging online as to whether or not the ALT attribute is even more important than your image title for SEO purposes but the experts seem to agree that it’s a good idea to consider both.
NOTE: Wordpress users, your captions are used as your Alternate Description automatically. So that saves you this step.
Captions
If your blog layout looks great with captions then by all means use that space for a brief description and a few embedded keywords. Very few people are doing this. And it helps your readers too.
But a word of warning…
No keyword stuffing! You would see this a lot in the wild west of the early pre-blogging Internet. People would have paragraphs of clunky text at the bottom of their web sites. Hundreds of keywords. And they would stuff them into picture titles too. It was a dumb idea from the get go and Google caught on fast.
Anyway, what I’m trying to say is, don’t stuff piles of keywords anywhere. Not in your socks, not in your underwear, and especially not in your pictures. Give your pictures names that are relevant to your headline and content. Names that a human being can read too.
With that said, this is one of those simple tips that has a big impact on your SEO in the long haul. If you’re not already naming your pictures then you should start small. You don’t have to go through all of your pictures, rename and upload them again. Just make sure to name your new pictures as you post them. It’s easy way to get the Google monkeys to smile and share your resources with the world.
Do You Have Any Seo Secrets?
If you have an SEO tip you would like to share with the crowd then please do, Show us how it’s done. You know, when it comes down to it, I’m more of an SEO beginner myself but I’m picking up so many tips and tricks from Ferny Ceballos, Raymond Fong, and you guys that I’ll be a pro some day too.

I’m not sure if I mentioned this Wordpress plugin in another post, but here it is again. It is called SEO Friendly Images and it automatically adds ALT and TITLE attributes to all your images.
I use it on my blog.
Cheers,
Hani

One more SEO tip.
Try not to hammer on the
same keywords till they’re
dead.
Yeah, I know… I do this myself.
Network Marketing this… or network
marketing that… but it’s a solid
strategy to switch it up a bit or go for
keywords that aren’t as popular too.
Just noticed I was guilty of not
following my own advice. lol
